New Member Education

New Member Education is the period between the time that you accept an invitation to join a fraternity or sorority and when you becomes a full, active member.  It is an opportunity for new members to learn about the history, tradition, members, and ritual of the Chapter they intend to join.  This is also an important time to get to know other students in the Chapter and to decide if you can truly make a lifelong commitment to the goals and ideals of the Chapter.  This is typically done through a variety of teambuilding activities, some formal and some informal.  If you have questions about what constitutes acceptable new member education programs, please consult the MSU Greek Community Risk Management Brochure, available at gogreek.msu.edu.
