Study Abroad

Michigan State University is proud to send thousands of MSU students abroad every year to experience the great diversity our world has to offer.  For these students, it is important to know that the rights and responsibilities afforded to them on campus are also applicable while participating in an MSU Study Abroad program.

All MSU students wanting to participate in one of the more than 200 programs in over 60 countries must sign the "Statement of Responsibility." stmt_responsibility04 The statement addresses issues related to alcohol and other drugs, university policies, host country customs, program dismissal, travel, and governing laws. Failure to adhere to any of the provisions therin can result in removal from the program, disciplinary action, and/or action by the University upon return to campus.

Students are strongly encouraged to explore potential issues or concerns with their Program Director, the Study Abroad Office, and/or the Department of Student Life.
