Student Life

DSL Faculty Advisory Board

The Department of Student Life contains multiple functional areas to support students and their development processes, promote student learning, and service institutional needs.  During the past several years, the Department of Student Life has had three major goals.  First, we have re-positioned our functions, services, and programs closer to the centrality of the institution's mission and goals. We also have intentionally reduced organizational fragmentation, and engaged a greater proportion of students and faculty in our academically connected co-curricular opportunities.

The Department seeks faculty/academic department partnerships and/or collaborations to address and accommodate both the opportunities that a new millennium offers to become more innovative in engaging students and delivering and enhancing learning. Further, the Faculty Advisory Board will advise the Department to create strategic initiatives designed to attract greater numbers of faculty to our programs.

Some of our new Faculty Advisory Board projects include Great Issues Colloquy focused on integrity, the re-conceptualization of Internationalizing Student Life, creating clear student expectations, preparing students for "group work" and faculty mailing series from the Department.
